At the start of the game, a coin is tossed to decide which player goes first. The starting player throws a small white jack. The jack must exceed the dotted line or the opposing player gets a turn to throw the jack. Once the jack has been thrown and established, the same player throws two consecutive bowls. Once this is complete, the opposing player throws two bowls etc. The aim of the game is to get your bowls closer to the jack than your opponent.
In “Classic Scoring” you score points for each one of your bowls that goes closer to the jack than the closest bowl of your opponent. In “Best Of” scoring, you score one point if you’re closest bowl is closer to the jack than the closest bowl of your opponent.
Enjoy playing lawn bowling!
